Wow a National Picture

I just received an IM from my brother that he was called by our Pastor with the news that he was in a national Christian magazine. It is World magazine. Here is one link: http://www.worldmag.com/articles/15546 he is the one in the top right hand corner looking at the camera. Here is a better view of him on the front page of their website :http://www.worldmag.com/index.cfm Scroll down on the right under Booksellers Break down. This picture was taken at one of our conventions, maybe last year in Orlando. He had no idea. How neat. We have been in our industry magazine before but never in a National one. As for the article, it is so true, we are in a hard business. Support your local Christian Bookstore.

I'm Sorry for being so mean today but...

I really am sorry for being mean today. It started off a good day. I woke up early, took a shower and took my nephew to soccer camp. I took advantage of being at the Y for his camp and went upstairs to work out. I was feeling great. I decided to get a water from the vending machine and it just would not take my dollar. I then decided to get munchkin some animal crackers. I pushed the number and they got stuck. I was a little peeved but not totally peeved until the other mother came walking out with two bags of cheetos and the bag of animal crackers. I think they were probably mine. Soccer camp ended at noon and my sister wanted us to go meet her for lunch at work so she could see munchkin. Oh did I tell you I changed my day off so we could go to Water Country today after camp because the rest of the week is booked. Well we finally took off for Water Country at 2ish and arrived at 3ish.
Anyone locally knows Water Country is spread out and you can not let a almost 6 year old decide where we go and when because he will take you across the park five times rather than hitting the spots in a methodical order. Today I was in methodical order mood which caused my mom to get mad at me because the munchkin was not getting his way. We did go to everything he wanted to go to just not in his order.
Did I mention our cousin was with us, she is 12. Oh and she sings along to every song on the radio and was about to drive me crazy, I mean every song. Then she starts to argue with my nephew about a song lyric and really he is almost 6 it is not worth arguing over and I told her that in a not so nice way. I give her credit though because she was a great playmate until one river, Hubba Hubba Highway. This ride you just float and jets push you around. Weak swimmers wear a vest and good swimmers wear one to float. Well my nephew can not swim so I have to keep pace with him but my cousin kept pushing him in the jets and he would take off and I could not catch up with him. Not good since he can not swim. One time she grabbed him and he went under and scared the lifeguard and me both. I told both of them over 6 times to stop. They did not listen and my nerves were shot so I grabbed him to exit. Oh boy, he had a few things to say to me in a disrespectful manner and smacked me. We had quite the discussion when we got out and it was ugly. My mom walked up on the end of it and played the bad aunt guilt trip." What has he done, he has been perfect all day." He stands and smiles. So Yes I got more aggravated.

So now we are leaving and off to get some dinner. The kids decide on McDonald's. Well I rarely eat burger fast food and McDonald's is one of my least favorite places. Every once in a blue moon I may stop for a double cheeseburger but that is rare but the kids wanted nuggets, so off we go. I decided to get a snack and get something I like better later after we take the kids home. Well I looked at the menu and decided that I had not had one of their grilled chicken bacon salads and would get that for dinner instead of something for a snack. Well I wait and wait to get waited on and I give my order to a non-English speaking girl . She turns to her manager and he says.... We don't have any salads. I did walk away mad and told them McDonald's was useless but see I was very frustrated at this point. I ate nothing while the kids and my mom ate but see I was frustrated. I had finally decided that McDonald's had something I liked and then told they don't have it. I was disappointed. I know I should have ordered something else but nothing else was worth the calories to me. We left and thankfully there was a Subway across the highway. We stopped and I ate in the car but when we pulled up , do you know what both kids said.... I love Subway, why didn't we go here for dinner? Oh the frustrations that could have been spared.

So if you saw me and think you knew me today, I am sorry I was so mean. I really am a very sweet person usually. We all have our off days and today was mine.

One last thing, thankfully my sub kept my mouth busy because my cousin proceeded to sing all the songs on the radio the whole way home. Ohh is she glad my mouth was stuffed because I really did not want to tell her to "Be Quiet" or the not so nice version of that either.

I do hope tomorrow is not so frustrating and quite peaceful.

prayer

I have been following the blog below for months now. As the aunt of an adopted nephew, please pray for this family. Read her archives to see her whole story.

http://our-journey-to-parenthood.blogspot.com/2009/06/doubts.html

Lord,
I pray right now for this family as they have opened their hearts again for this new child they have prepared for. I also uplift Miss A and that she will seek the decision that is best for Baby Braxton and not for herself.

In Jesus Name,
Amen

This post is short and not wordy because honestly I am beyond words because of what this family is going through right now.

The Little Red Car is broke...

UPDATE: Little red car that is barely our of its warranty by three months is going to cost me $760. The alternator has gone bad. I think I am seriously regretting buying a Ford. I dont know where this money is coming from, anyone have a money tree?

Well my car is in my work parking lot. It has this little problem where it does not want to start. So I request prayer that my finances will cover what ever is wrong with my little car. The bad news is my warranty expired in March, I think. I left it at work and hope no one steals it tonight, not like they would get very far though. Although my brother's battery was dead too when his hoopdie was stolen twice in the parking lot by the same man ( long story). I will get it towed tomorrow and deal with the bad news as it happens. Ohhhh! Did I tell you that the reason I bought a new car a few years ago was so I did not have to stress and worry about where it might strand me after being stranded on the interstate twice in my old vehicle. So much for not having to worry.

Pet Peeve and Soap Box...

Tonight I had a lovely evening at Busch Gardens for their Glory at the Garden with Mercy Me, Sanctus Real, and Stellar Kart. Well you may ask , what is my pet peeve at a Christian concert? It is Christian t-shirts. How come everyone thinks they should wear their Christian shirts at a Christian concert? Think about it. Oh, I am cool because I own a Christian shirt and am wearing it to Christian concert so everyone will know I am a Christian. Well majority of the people there are Christians already. It is the secular world that needs to see your Christian shirt. Obviously these people are not wearing them in every day life because the shirts do not look "worn". I work where we sell these shirts. The messages on them are for witnessing. I know which ones are old designs and new designs. Most of the people I saw this evening were wearing older designs yet they looked brand new. Do they buy them and store them in their closets for Christian events? That is not the purpose. My challenge to anyone that owns a Christian shirt. Wear it at more than to a Christian event. Wear it to be a witness and open opportunities to share your faith....... that is if you are behaving in a way that is a witness also.

Hot Dog Soup

Hot Dog Soup.. Oh boy! Sounds not so appetizing, huh. Well let me tell you what it really is. Hot Dog soup is really doctored up beans and weenies. See I made this for my grandparents a few months ago. They called my mom and told her that the hot dog soup that I had made was so good. I first wondered what they were talking about when it dawned on me it was the beans and weenies I fixed. I have fixed this several times and put it in their freezer, it is always the first dish to disappear. Who knew that hot dog soup could make a 91 and 95 year old couple so happy. Oh , you may be wondering what brought this up tonight. Well I had leftover hot dogs from a cookout and decided to make good use of them since I was hot dogged out. Just a quick note, my grandmother can not cook anymore so we make sure they have meals in the freezer they can microwave that will last them more than one day. They get Meals on Wheels (MOW) for lunch and we keep the freezer stocked for dinner. They do not like MOW but they deal with it. We have convinced them to freeze what they do not like .When I come up there I make a pot of soup for them. Last week I took four meals from the freezer and made a Brunswick type stew with those meals with a can of cream of chicken, onion and some seasonings. He was amazed at how good it was and the fact I made it out of MOW meals. Well blogger is giving me an attitude about starting a new paragraph. So for those of you are interested here is my hot dog soup recipe AKA beans and weenies. One package of hot dogs uncooked and chopped, one can of cheap pork and beans, one can of premium baked beans, one can of northern beans, a squirt or two of BBQ sauce ,a squirt or two of ketchup , and one can of corn..... Put all together in pan and boil and stir . That's it...... Becky's Hot Dog Soup
