Happy Thanksgiving !

Happy Thanksgiving to all my three bloggers!

How was my strange Thanksgiving? Very nice overall but very different.

The day started at 7:30 with a phone call that my Brother-In-Law needed a ride to the hospital so that he could drive my sister home who had just passed out at work. I was flabbergasted because she had only been at work for an hour. I took him not knowing she was still in the ER and I would have my nephew for most of the day. I do love him so I did not mind. In the long run, she was dehydrated which caused her sugar level to go off whack and she passed out. In the mean time, because of her previous infection they wanted to make sure there was no infection anywhere else so that ordered a CT scan. Once again because of a wild freak inconsistency in her blood sugar and dehydration, a test was run looking for one thing and found something else. They discovered that she has a fatty liver and needs to see a specialist on Monday. This was unrelated to her dehydration that caused her to pass out today. God knew.

I then came home with him , did some things around the house, cooked and watched the parade.

They still were not home by noon. We had signed up to go serve the needy at the Y , so we took munchkin with us. He did not want to go. He only had to serve a few people but he had such a great attitude about helping. At the end, he was hungry and ate a plate of food. When he says he is hungry, we feed him because he rarely says he is hungry.

Lastly, we ended up at my brother's house for ......no, not turkey but chili and clam chowder. I was not looking forward to this and I have my reasons  but it turned out to be a nice evening even without the stuffing and turkey. I will get that on Sunday with the big family gathering.

I did miss having my stuffing on Thanksgiving today and was contemplating going to the store for Stove Top but I did not. The neighbors were frying a turkey and I was tempted to steal it when they went inside but I did not. It smelled so good.

So Sunday , when you are tired of your leftovers and scrunge your face at the thought of turkey or possibly you are eating turkey chili. Remember me when I will just be celebrating with that tasty food and it will be hot and fresh.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving Menu....

Thanksgiving Menu.....

Crockpot Mac and Cheese
Roasted Squash, Cauliflower, and Brussels Sprouts
Corn
Corn Bread
Stuffing
Brownies
Pecan Chocolate Kahlua Pie
Pork Loin marinated in Garlic and Herb seasonings.....

Yep.... Pork Loin. Since my sister is a nurse we have to work around her holiday schedule. Yes, she chooses Thanksgiving in hope of getting Christmas off. Some years she gets lucky and gets both off, not this year. So, our "real " Thanksgiving is Sunday. We did not want the same foods twice so close together so I made up tomorrow's menu. Just remember pork is the other white meat.

This Thanksgiving is one filled with changes. My grandmother has passed. My grandfather is going with my mom's sister to her daughter's land three and a half hours away. So it is the first Thanksgiving we will be celebrating without either one of them. Keep my mother in your prayers as she endures tomorrow without her mother, father, nor sister. We were supposed to go to her sister's house for Thanksgiving but with all the latest turmoil with her that is the last place we want to be. My cousin also decided she wanted Thanksgiving on her land for the first year there so she invited them but she doesn't have room for the eight of us too. We understand that. They currently have a FEMA trailer and a small barn. Their basement for their new home will begin construction in the spring. She also is three and half hours away. Too long of a drive for one day. Seven hours on Thanksgiving day, wow!

Changes... Changes... Changes but we will make the best of it.

I hope and pray everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.

Update..

Thanksgiving was not so bad. My aunt only had one outrage moment that I saw . She went ballistic over someone dropping one small smidgen of cocktail sauce on the kitchen floor. My dad rescued the day. He brought his new scooter that he has that he uses at Busch Gardens and various places. He took all the kids outside for about two hours letting them ride with him around the block if they were little and actually letting them ride it if they were older. This relieved the parents worrying about anything in the house being messed up. Yayy Dad!

Thankful Thurday!

In my first post I was complaining and not being thankful. So here goes:

THANKFUL THURSDAY!
  • Spending Thanksgiving with my family, especially my grandparents.
  • Already having all my outside Christmas decorations
  • The case of fresh collards my neighbor just gave us, ummh good.
  • Food on the table this Thanksgiving.
  • Jesus, for eternal life.
  • A job , even though my paychecks run late, at least I get some.
  • Friends
  • Macy's parade.
  • Health, next week will be one year since my cancer scare and surgery.
  • Clothes in the closet, well on the floor and on the bed too.
  • Christmas music
  • Christ's birth.
  • Running water.
  • A car to drive
  • Gas prices that are decent
  • My Bible

Happy Thanksgiving All! Remember to give thanks to God for all your blessings and not just your meal. It is way more than the feast.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!

I am taking the day off and not worrying today about what I consume. Tomorrow I am back on track. Someone made me wedding cookies yesterday. Oh my! The are my weakness. Thank goodness they only gave me twelve. This morning I had my annual Thanksgiving breakfast of sausage balls. I did not over indulge because they were delicious. I listened to my tummy and it said to stop. My taste buds say we want more but my tum-tum says that is enough.

I am celebrating the afternoon at my aunt's house. This is a stressful day because she is a stressful person. She acts like she is OCD. She will freak out if you accidentally drop one little morsel on the floor. The kids can not even play without the parents worrying about anything being broke. She freaks no matter where they play. Even if they play toys on the bed she will fuss that her bedspread is out of place. If they play on the floor she worries about the carpet. This year we have been informed that all 20 of us must eat in her dining room and sun room. OK for some houses that might not be bad. For hers though, it only holds about 12 comfortably in both rooms. She wants a Norman Rockwell moment where we are all at the table. Great but my family is hefty and 20 people for a table of 8 and 4 is not happening. Why she wants us to come to her house is beyond me except for the fact she puts us all to work after eating with getting her Christmas decorations down. See actually she uses us. So while all of you enjoy your afternoon with your family, I will enjoy parts of it but being at her house is far from enjoyable. It is all we can do to tolerate. She also informed us that if we eat at 2 no one can leave before 4. What a dreadful day! I will enjoy being with my grandparents since they are 90 and 94 and going downhill fast. I will tolerate her for their sake as long as they are alive. Well have a great Thanksgiving. Thanks for letting me vent.
